Immigration Reform

It’s been less than 24 hours since President Barack Obama held his speech about immigration reform.  It will be another six months before all that was said during the speech will be implemented.  How does this affect the United States?

The facts are that about 4 million undocumented immigrants would be directly affected by the action.  Most illegal immigrants are relatively young in the United States, between 16 and 44.

It’s probably too early to say anything about this particular order, but as Wonkblog has written previously, comprehensive immigration reform generally would benefit the economy.  It would help stabilize the federal debt by encouraging more younger workers to come the country, who will pay taxes without drawing on Social Security and Medicare for many years. It would raise the wages of workers already in the country. Leaders in both parties recognize these facts (Ehrenfreund, 2014).

There are people who are opposed or support the immigration reform, but we’d like to hear from you.  How do you think this will affect your business?
